HENDERSON ART PROJECT

Support The Arts

HAP is a non-profit organization devoted to the placement of large scale public sculpture in the urban setting of Henderson Avenue in Dallas, Texas.  In it’s first year, HAP has placed (through a juried competition) 7 artists on Henderson Avenue and continues to fill the neighborhood with sculpture from other artists.

I am please to be a part of this project and hope you will show your support to help the artists continue to create, participate, and be seen.  Art enriches the community and brings all facets of life together, collectively, in the effort to enhance our quality of life where we live.

Elegant Reflections collaborated with me recently to fill a 4x4 foot cement base with fire glass that would reflect and throw prisms onto the surface of my big candy blue sculpture “Wounded”.

Installed in cooperation with the Henderson Art Project, Elegant Reflections donated the glass for my installation.  We’d like to share this link in appreciation of their kind support.

Thank you Nadine!!

CERF

Craft Emergency Relief Fund

“Strengthening and Sustaining the Careers of Craft Artists”

Craft Emergency Relief Fund is committed to supporting the careers of craft artists throughout the United States.  Through business and career-strengthening programs, emergency relief support, advocacy and research CERF helps professional craft artists strengthen and sustain their careers so that they can thrive and, thus, contribute to the quality of life in our communities.

We first became acquainted with CERF when Nic’s studio in Clyde, Texas burned to the ground in an accidental blaze in 2006.  We received a loan to help rebuild the studio but more than that, we were given the genuine concern and compassion of an organization that understands and supports the needs and struggles of artists.  We again had to call upon CERF in 2008 when Hurricane Ike destroyed our home, studio, and gallery in Galveston, Texas.  Through the support of CERF we were given tools and resources that led to obtaining a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant for Disaster Relief on Christmas Eve of 2008.  We are very humbled by our tragic experiences, and even more so by the outreach and support of organizations like CERF that have led to our continued success and strive to sustain the livelihood of artists and in turn contribute to the enrichment of our communities and culture.  Thank you CERF and a very special thanks to Les Snow for impacting our lives and the lives of so many artists.

The Joan Mitchell Foundation

www.joanmitchellfoundation.org

The Joan Mitchell Foundation was established in 1993 to fulfill the ambitions of Joan Mitchell to aid and assist the needs of painters and sculptors. The Foundation seeks to demonstrate that painting and sculpture are significant cultural necessities. To further this mandate, the Foundation annually awards grants to painters and sculptors, supports outside programming such as workshops and residencies serving individual artists, and provides free art education opportunities for New York City Youth.

By encouraging the ambitions of developing artists, the Foundation celebrates the unique legacy of Joan Mitchell as an American artist and seeks to emphasize and draw attention to the important contributions of artists working today.

The Joan Mitchell Foundation awarded Nic Noblique a Disaster Relief Grant on Christmas Eve of 2008 after Hurricane Ike destroyed his Studio and Gallery in Galveston Texas.  Nic was the sole recipient of this grant and because of the foundations ambitions and hard work, he is still working today.  Thank you Joan Mitchell and thanks to those carrying out her mission and wishes to see artists survive and create.
